Seal Beach, California (Sunday, December 13th, 2015) – The Directors of Run Seal Beach® are looking forward to an incredible race season this year. Board President, Greg Phillips said, “we are delighted to have the upcoming race on April 9th with the full support of our sponsors, the City of Seal Beach and our sister non-profit organizations like the Lions, the Chamber and Seal Beach Police Foundation.”
“It is going to be an exciting year and Anytime Fitness is thrilled to deepen the relationship with Run Seal Beach through our continued sponsorship and now as Treasurer,” commented Dana Neucere, co-owner of Anytime Fitness a multi-year sponsor and new board member. She continued, “I feel privileged to be part of this amazing community run organization. We choose to invest in this event and the Christmas Parade because it matches our vision of community engagement in Seal Beach and the greater region.”

Michelle Samuelson, the 1K Kids Fun Run and Zone Director agreed, “this year we will continue to have our upcoming 1K kids Fun Run t-shirt contest as we have since 2003 and we can’t wait to kick it off. Look for the announcement at McGaugh in mid-January.” As always, the designs, with theme yet to be announced, must include the iconic “Sammy the Seal.” The Board along with the Operational and Advisory committees help select the winning design.

Registration is currently open via the registration portal at runsealbeach.com and the entire board is looking at ways to enhance and improve the organization – from event execution to reaching out to legacy, long-term sponsors and activating new ones. We encourage all of our friends in the season of giving to offer the gift of health and community engagement through a registration for our race.

100% of the proceeds from this volunteer produced event get funneled back into the community, with over $1.4M since 2002 which have been granted through either the grant process or Director’s gifts.

Seth Eaker, Director and Board Secretary since 2010-11 said, “as our Centennial year wraps up, Run Seal Beach is looking forward to the future. We would not be in the wonderful place that we are today without the vision of Bill Ayres, Marc Loopesko, Elizabeth Kane, Janie Telkamp and dozens of others over the years, some still with us and some not. We wish them well.” Regardless of any one person, the “Race will go on” as its founders intended and with volunteerism from the community and thus our ability to give back in a way that is just unlike anything else. Seth continued, “it is a humbling honor to be part of it for just one more year to ensure its smooth transition to the next 5 – 10 years of directors and their ideas.”

If you have any ideas in the community, questions or wish to be a sponsor, we would welcome your input via email to runsealbeachpr@gmail.com See you at the start line, but don’t forget to register now! Particularly teams!
